A memorial golf tournament & charity event
We would like to express our appreciation to all involved in the 2024 tournament. We thank everyone who was there as well as those who were with us in spirit. Thank you to all the golfers, sponsors, donors and volunteers for your support. Thanks also to Jeff Johnson and his staff at Sunflower Hills for being such gracious hosts. Once again, we had a full field and a good time was had by all. It was great to see everyone come together in Bill’s memory to give back to the community through our relationship with Children’s Mercy Hospital and enjoy an awesome day. We were able to raise $31,000 for their Illuminate Project!! We are looking forward to our 31st Annual Bill Mounkes Golf Tournament to be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Sunflower HIlls!! Registration is now open!!
The golf tournament began as a memorial event, founded by Bill's brother-in-law and parents, Dave Hosier and Mary & Floyd Fugate after he passed. It is obvious Bill was loved by many, it has been quite an amazing way to keep his memory alive 30 years later! Not only do we get to support an amazing cause, but the tournament serves as a reunion of friends & family in celebration of his life every year. Fulfilling specific needs for children has been our goal over the course of our twelve-year relationship with Children's Mercy and we are grateful we have been able to address various areas they have identified. We appreciate your support which has helped to make it all possible.
The Annual Bill Mounkes Golf Tournament transformed into a charity fundraiser, teaming up with Children’s Mercy Hospital. Our cause has donated over $359,000 to Children’s Mercy for various needs over the years. The 31st Annual Bill Mounkes Charity Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Sunflower Hills Golf Course in Bonner Springs, Kansas.
The funds raised by the 2024 tournament went towards the Children's Mercy Illuminate Project. The Illuminate Project is an initiative to address the mental health crisis among children and teens in the Kansas City area. Among many other things, this project will help build new mental health facilities at Children’s Mercy including an Acute Mental Health Crisis Center, a Med/Psych Unit, and a partial Hospitalization Program and our donation helped fund such projects. These facilities (and the associated specialized services they will provide) will ensure that kids who are dealing with such challenges will get the care they need.
